Important health disclaimer

TypeEat provides nutrition estimates for food logging and personal tracking only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a clinical nutrition plan. Calorie, macro, sugar, and fiber values are estimates and can vary by recipe, preparation, portion size, ingredient brand, and user input. Consult a qualified doctor or registered dietitian before making medical decisions or changing a diet for a health condition.

How calorie targets are estimated

During onboarding, TypeEat estimates a daily calorie target from user-provided profile information. The app uses the Mifflin-St Jeor resting energy equation as a baseline, applies an activity multiplier selected by the user, and then adjusts the estimate for the selected goal of losing, maintaining, or gaining weight.

These values are general estimates for healthy adults and are not a substitute for individualized clinical guidance.

How macro and nutrient targets are estimated

TypeEat displays macro targets as practical tracking estimates derived from the daily calorie target. Protein, carbohydrate, and fat targets are based on common percentage ranges that align with public dietary reference guidance. Fiber and sugar references use FDA Daily Value and WHO sugar guidance as general context.

How food analysis estimates are generated

Photo and text food analysis are AI-assisted estimates. TypeEat uses visible foods, meal descriptions, serving-size rules, and public nutrition reference data such as USDA FoodData Central to estimate calories and macros. Users should review and edit results when a portion, ingredient, or preparation looks wrong.
